Call Waiting

From the Flint Hills, KS. I enjoyed modulating the three levels of scale and perspective to fit the low horizon line. I made great effort to create a 3-dimensional expanse of clouds into airiness, recession and believability; coupled with the low horizon of a barn and cows. I tried with great care to keep all the attention on the waiting cows in terms of the subordination of color and value. I wanted to lead the viewers eye into the composition by employing a secondary interest component of a well-traveled path to the barn where warmth and food would meet their needs. Farmers have a distinctive loud whistle recognized by the animals, or a bell would be rung that the food has been spread out in the barn. Come and get it!!!
